On the Sunday morning we were picked up by Tasman adventures. Lucky they came on time as I was feeling really ill (sinus infection ugh!) and about to go back to bed. When aboard the boat we got a spot near the back on the lower deck. There was lots of seating around the boat, inside and on the upper decks despite all the people.
We saw our first whales from a distance, tiny splashes hundreds of meters away, we did not stop for these as we we were hoping to see more further on. Soon we came across another group of whales which were closer so we stopped to watch them for a while.
Over the next few hours we came across many groups. We saw mothers with their calves, tail splashes, dorsal fins, calves jumping out of the water, males chasing females (and trying to mate). At times the whales got very close to the boat.
The next day we had a long drive back to Brisbane for our flight home to Melbourne. The only notable thing we stopped at was the Big Pineapple.
Coffeed: Salt Cafe again.
Adventured: Tasman Adventure (Whales!!!)
Ate: I was too sick to eat, but I think we got takeaway pizza.
Stayed: Oceans Resort and Spa.
Special thanks to the emergency room doctors who gave me strong painkillers and some antibiotics to kill the infection.
